INSTALLATION TIPS

What do I need to install the film?

Application fluids

  • Slip solution: This is a mixture of distilled water and a pH-neutral solution, often a few drops of baby shampoo or a specialized concentrate. It is lightly sprayed onto the toolbox surface and the adhesive side of the film to lubricate the film and allows you to float and reposition it before tacking it down.

  • Tack solution: This solution, which contains a small percentage of higher concentrated alcohol (70% ISO) and water, is used to lock the film down in place once it is correctly positioned. It helps initiate a stronger bond in specific areas, especially around edges and corners.

  • Pressure sprayers: Industrial or high-quality spray bottles are used to apply the slip and tack solutions evenly and efficiently. You can purchase these at your local big box hardware store.

To streamline the installation process, we developed BULLDOG DROOLâ„¢, an all-in-one solution that eliminates the need for installers to mix slip and tack ratios or source spray bottles.

  • Squeegee - While every DIY PPF kit includes a standard squeegee, we recommend our premium BULLDOG Squeegee for superior results. It's designed to help you achieve a flawless, bubble-free installation.

  • Towels - Given that PPF installation involves the use of soapy water and tack solutions, the surfaces can become wet. While not essential for the installation itself, we recommend the Droolâ„¢ Towels for effective post-installation cleanup.

  • (Optional) While our pre-cut kits minimize the need for a cutting knife, we offer the NT Cutter Utility Knife for post-installation touch-ups. It is the ideal tool for releasing small air bubbles that may appear after the film has cured, ensuring a flawless final result.

Can I Move The Film Around During Installation?

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

How does your film compare to traditional cleaning options?

Paint protection film (PPF) offers significantly more durable, long-lasting, and comprehensive protection for a vehicle's paint than traditional cleaning and protective options like waxes and sealants. Traditional methods only provide a sacrificial layer that wears away over time, while PPF creates a robust, physical barrier against physical damage.
